Where to Play Competitive Padel in the UK: Every Level, From the GB Team to Club Leagues (2026 Guide)
Last updated: 21 October 2026 2026 was the year padel in Britain went big time. London hosted its first ever Premier Padel event at Olympia, five FIP world tour tournaments came to British courts, and the Great Britain women's team qualified for the World Cup for the first time since 2021. Below the headlines, there are now more ways than ever to compete, from a weekly pairs league to the LTA's graded tournament ladder. Here is the whole ladder, from the top down. The LTA selects the Great Britain team for FIP world and European events. Premier Padel London and the FIP tournaments held in Britain are professional events that award world ranking points. Domestically, the LTA Padel National Championships and the LTA Padel British Tour (Grades 1 and 2) sit at the top, alongside the independent Britain Padel Tour. Then come the LTA Regional and County Tours, team competition in the LTA Cupra Padel National League, pairs leagues such as Padel League UK, the entry level LTA Local Tour, and finally club leagues, ladders and social formats such as the UK Padel Super League and Ladder. For each level, this guide explains who it is for, how it works, whether it carries ranking points and where to learn more, so you can see exactly where you fit and what to enter next. The Great Britain national team Level: Highest. International competition representing Great Britain. Who it is for: Britain's best open, senior and junior players. How to get in: By selection only. The LTA, which runs padel in Great Britain, selects the GB teams for FIP international events such as the World Padel Cup and European championships. In September 2026, GB sent men's and women's squads to the FIP World Cup qualifiers in Madrid. The women, captained by Libby Fletcher and Iciar Montes, beat Poland 2 to 0 in the semi final to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar (2 to 7 November 2026), their first since 2021. The men went out 2 to 1 to Germany in a semi final that lasted six and a half hours. British seniors and juniors also compete at the FIP Senior World Padel Cup and FIP Junior Euro Padel. Who it is for: The top of the world rankings, plus British wildcards. Ranking: Premier Padel and FIP ranking points. From 4 to 9 August 2026, London Premier Padel P1 at Olympia brought Great Britain its first elite professional padel tournament. A P1 is the second highest tier of the Premier Padel tour, below only the Majors. Entry is by world ranking, so for British players the realistic route in is a wildcard: GB internationals Chris Salisbury and Alfonso Patacho were given London P1 wildcards in 2026. FIP tournaments in Britain (CUPRA FIP Tour) Level: International professional tournaments, played on British courts. Who it is for: Elite British players and visiting international pros. Ranking: FIP world ranking points. The International Padel Federation's CUPRA FIP Tour is the international circuit below Premier Padel, and its results feed the FIP world ranking. Britain hosted five FIP events in 2026: 4 to 10 May: FIP Bronze, Rocks Lane, Chiswick, London 18 to 24 May: FIP Silver, HOP London Padel Open, Padel Hub Whetstone, London 27 July to 2 August: FIP Silver, Rathbones Island Padel, Jersey 5 to 11 October: FIP Silver, R3 Bullpadel, Stratford Padel Club, London 21 to 25 October: FIP Bronze, City Padel Taunton How many FIP points can you win? LTA Padel National Championships Level: The top domestic title in British padel. Who it is for: The best British players, in Open and Seniors draws. Ranking: LTA ranking points. The LTA Padel National Championships crown the British champions. The 2026 edition was played over four days, 1 to 4 October, at Rocket Padel Bristol, with men's and women's Open and Seniors draws and £10,400 in prize money. New for 2026, the LTA Junior Padel Nationals take place on 29 and 30 October at Just Padel, Derby. Learn more: LTA Padel National Championships 5. LTA Padel British Tour (Grades 1 and 2) Level: National. The highest level of domestic padel competition in Great Britain. Who it is for: Advanced players up to professional level. Ranking: LTA ranking points. The LTA Padel British Tour is the top of the LTA's graded tournament system. Grade 1 is advanced to professional level and Grade 2 is advanced, both at national venues. The 2026 calendar has 7 Grade 1 events (including London, Exeter, Scotland and the Channel Islands) and 21 Grade 2 events, from Leeds, Crawley and Cardiff to Durham, Harrogate and the West of Scotland. Entry is decided by your position in the LTA Padel Rankings. How LTA ranking points work Points are awarded at all LTA Padel Tour and LTA Padel Senior Tour tournaments in Great Britain, from Grade 5 up to Grade 1. The higher the grade and the further you go, the more points you earn. Your ranking is based on your best six results from the previous 52 weeks. If you play qualifying and the main draw of the same event, you only earn points once. Seniors have their own ranking tables, and you can appear on more than one seniors age group list. Britain Padel Tour (independent) Level: High level independent pro circuit. Who it is for: Strong players chasing prize money outside the LTA system. Ranking: Its own BPT ranking, separate from the LTA rankings. The Britain Padel Tour (BPT) is an independent circuit launched in 2024 by entrepreneur Fabian David, with events at venues such as True Padel Durham and Slazenger Padel Leeds. It positions itself as a professional tour for British players and was offering some of the largest prize money in UK padel at launch (£2,000 per winning men's pair). The season ends with the BPT Finals for the top 16 men and top 16 women in the BPT ranking. Because it is not part of the LTA graded system, BPT results do not count towards your LTA ranking, which is why we list it just below the LTA British Tour. Learn more: britainpadeltour.com BPT rankings system 7. LTA Regional Tour (Grade 3) and County Tour (Grade 4) Level: Regional and county. Who it is for: Grade 3 is intermediate to advanced; Grade 4 is beginner to intermediate. Ranking: LTA ranking points. This is where most club players build their LTA ranking. Regional Tour (Grade 3) events run at regional venues across the country, and County Tour (Grade 4) events at local venues. Entry to both is based on the LTA Padel Rankings, so a few good results at Grade 4 help you move up to Grade 3 and, eventually, the British Tour. How to enter: create an LTA Advantage account, search the LTA competition finder for events near you, then complete the online entry form. Who it is for: Club players who want to play for their venue in a structured team league. Ranking: Division standings, leading to the National Finals. The LTA Cupra Padel National League is the biggest padel team competition in Great Britain. Men's and women's teams play in three divisions, with the strongest teams in Division 1, and compete for a place in the National Finals and the title of national champions. Teams are entered by a club administrator through the LTA, with approval from the venue's Club Manager or Coach, and each venue needs at least one padel court on site. Learn more: LTA Cupra Padel National League, or ask your club about entering a team. 9. Padel League UK: regional and venue pairs leagues Level: Regional and club leagues for pairs. Who it is for: Pairs of all levels who want a regular, organised fixture list. Ranking: Division tables, promotion and relegation, and the Masters Series. Padel League UK runs eight week leagues for teams of two. At the time of writing there are 34 leagues: 18 regional leagues (including London, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast) and 16 venue leagues at specific clubs. After entries close, pairs are grouped by level into divisions of 6 to 9 teams and play each other once over the season. Matches are best of three sets, booked by the players (usually on Playtomic). The top two pairs in each division go up, the bottom teams go down, and the best teams from every league are invited to the Masters Series finals. Seasons: four a year. The Winter 2026/27 season starts between 9 and 23 November 2026, depending on the league. Cost: £65 per team (£50 for returning teams), plus court hire. LTA Local Tour (Grade 5) Level: Entry level graded tournaments. Who it is for: Beginners and anyone playing their first proper tournament. Ranking: LTA ranking points. Grade 5 Local Tour events run at local venues and are entered on a first come, first served basis, with no ranking needed. They are the easiest way to get on the LTA Padel Rankings: play a few, collect your first points, and you will have the ranking you need to enter County Tour (Grade 4) events. Learn more: How to start competing (LTA Padel) 11. Club leagues and ladders Level: Club competition. Who it is for: Club members and regulars who want structured matches at their own venue. Ranking: League tables and ladder positions. Many UK clubs run their own leagues, box leagues and ladders. A good example is the UK Padel Super League and Ladder at Holmer Green Padel in Buckinghamshire. Players are placed in leagues of four, each player plays three matches with a different partner, and points are awarded per match (3 for a straight sets win, 2 for a three set win, 1 for a loss). At the end of each period the top two in each league move up and the bottom two move down. Who it is for: Everyone, including complete beginners. Ranking: None, although app based levels may move. Americanos (you change partner every round), Mexicanos (pairings based on the live scores) and round robins are where most padel players first compete. They are short, sociable and the best way to meet players at your level before you start entering leagues and tournaments. Look for them in your club's booking app, usually Playtomic. New to padel: start with Americanos and club round robins, then join a club ladder or a Padel League UK division. Regular club player: create an LTA Advantage account and play Grade 5 Local Tour events to get your first LTA ranking points, and put your name forward for your club's National League team. Chasing a ranking: move up through County (Grade 4) and Regional (Grade 3) Tour events. Remember that only your best six results in 52 weeks count. Top British players: target the LTA Padel British Tour and the National Championships, enter FIP events in Britain for world ranking points, and aim for GB selection.
