Pick up any NOX padel racket and you'll find a row of small logos printed on the frame, the throat or the handle: VCS, DCS, EOS, MLD, HR3, 18K, Dual Spin, Weight Balance. Each one is a technology, and together they tell you almost everything about how that racket will feel on court: how stiff it is, how much power it gives back, how kind it is to your elbow and how easy it is to put spin on the ball.
This guide decodes every technology in the official NOX 2027 racket collection, starting with the big new arrival for 2027, the VCS anti-vibration system. It's written as a reference: use the quick table to look up a logo you've spotted, or read it through to understand exactly what you're paying for when you move up the NOX range.
All technical descriptions below come from the official NOX 2027 padel racket catalogue. Prices and availability of the rackets we link to can change, so check the product page before you buy.

Quick answer: what do the letters on a NOX racket mean?
- VCS: new for 2027. A high-performance elastomer bonded to the entire inner surface of the handle that absorbs impacts and vibration before they reach your arm. NOX says it filters around 60% more vibration than the previous generation.
- DCS (Dynamic Composite Structure): frame material extended up to 4 cm into the face so there's no hard transition between frame and face, which helps prevent cracks.
- EOS Tunnel / EOS Flap: side perforations in the frame that improve aerodynamics, manoeuvrability and weight distribution.
- AVS (Anti Vibration System): rubber pieces embedded in the frame to absorb vibration from off-centre hits.
- Pulse System: side rubbers running from the base of the frame to the bottom of the cap to reduce vibration reaching the hand.
- MLD Black EVA: a multi-layer core with different rubber densities for easy ball output on slow shots and power on smashes.
- HR3 / HR2: NOX's rubber (EVA) cores. Black and Hard versions are denser and more powerful; Soft and White versions are softer and more controlled.
- 3K, 12K, 18K, Alum, XTREM: the type of carbon in the face. Higher numbers, "Alum" (aluminised) and "XTREM" signal stiffer, more premium faces.
- FG: fibreglass faces (FG 3K or FG Silver), softer and more comfortable than carbon.
- Dual Spin, Exclusive Spin, 3D Texture, Rough Surface: the rough finishes on the face that help you grip the ball and generate spin.
- Weight Balance: removable 2 g and 4 g counterweights (up to 8 g) to tune weight and balance.
- Oversize Grip: a handle 30 mm longer than standard, for two-handed shots and extra head-heavy whip on smashes.
- Custom Grip: NOX's patented handle design, certified by Testea Padel to improve grip and reduce vibration.
- Smartstrap: a wrist cord you can remove in seconds to wash or replace.
New for 2027: what is NOX VCS?
VCS is the headline technology of the NOX 2027 collection and the one you'll see on every racket in the top-of-the-range Luxury Series. In NOX's own words, the VCS system features "a high-performance elastomer bonded to the entire inner surface of the handle, creating a cushioning barrier designed to reduce the transmission of impacts and vibrations during play."
In practical terms, the handle is where every shot's vibration travels on its way to your wrist, elbow and shoulder. Previous NOX anti-vibration systems (AVS and the Pulse System) placed rubber inserts in the frame. VCS takes a different approach: instead of damping at a few points, it lines the whole inside of the handle with a shock-absorbing layer, so vibration meets a continuous cushion right where your hand holds the racket.

Who developed the VCS formulation?
NOX says the elastomer was developed by specialists in high-performance cushioning, with expertise in technical insoles and protection systems. That's the same family of materials used to absorb impact in performance footwear, adapted to a padel handle. The brand's promise is "more absorption, more comfort, better feel with every shot", and critically, without deadening the racket's feel or control.
How much vibration does VCS remove?
Across the 2027 Luxury rackets, NOX quotes a figure of around 60%. The catalogue phrases it in slightly different ways from model to model: the VCS system "filters 60% more of the vibrations reaching the arm compared with its predecessor" on the Genius 18K Alum, and "reduces vibration peaks reaching the elbow and shoulder by up to 60%" on the Genius 12K Alum XTREM. Either way, the comparison is against the previous generation of the same rackets.
Why does VCS matter?
The trend in premium padel rackets is towards stiffer faces (12K and 18K carbon, aluminised carbon, XTREM weaves) because stiffness gives precision and power. The downside is that stiff rackets transmit more shock to the arm. VCS is NOX's answer: keep the stiff, precise face that advanced players want, and absorb the vibration in the handle instead. If you've ever had a sore elbow after moving to a harder racket, this is the technology designed for you.

Comfort and anti-vibration: VCS vs AVS vs Pulse System
NOX now has three different ways of protecting your arm, and which one you get tells you which part of the range a racket sits in.
VCS (2027 Luxury Series)
The newest and most advanced: a continuous elastomer layer bonded inside the handle. Found on every 2027 Luxury racket, such as the Genius 18K Alum and the Ventus Control 12K.
AVS: Anti Vibration System
"Rubber pieces that are embedded in the frame of the racket to absorb possible vibrations that occur when the ball is not hit in the centre of the racket." AVS targets mishits specifically, which makes it a smart choice for improving players. You'll find it on the Equation and NextGen NFA models, such as the NOX Equation Hard Advanced.
Pulse System
NOX's traditional system: lateral rubbers inserted "from the base of the frame to the bottom of the racket cap" to reduce the vibration transmitted to the player's hand. It features on the Classic Series rackets, including the Pro Cup Hard 2027 and Pro Cup Soft 2027.
Custom Grip
Not an anti-vibration system on its own, but a contributor. "The entire Luxury range incorporates the patented NOX Custom Grip® technology, certified by Testea Padel to increase grip and reduce vibrations." On Luxury rackets, Custom Grip and VCS work together in the handle.
Frame and structure: what is DCS on a NOX racket?
DCS stands for Dynamic Composite Structure. Normally, a racket's frame is much harder than its face, and the join between the two is a weak point where cracks can start. With DCS, NOX applies more frame material up to four centimetres into the face, so "the difference in hardness between the frame and the face is not noticeable. This prevents cracks on the outside of the racket."
In short, DCS is a durability technology. It's one of the most widely used logos in the NOX range: you'll find it everywhere from the Luxury Series down to beginner rackets like the NOX X-Hero and X-Zero, as well as the Pro Cup Hard and every VCS racket.

Carbon Frame
A frame made from carbon rather than fibreglass gives "more rigidity and durability to the frame and the racket in general". Almost every 2027 NOX racket uses a carbon frame; the main exception is the AT10 Genius Ultralight, which has a fibreglass frame to keep weight down.
Aerodynamics and balance: EOS Tunnel, EOS Flap, Weight Balance and Oversize Grip
What is EOS Tunnel?
"Lateral perforations integrated into the mould improve aerodynamics, increase manoeuvrability and optimise weight distribution, giving you a faster, more agile and more precise racket with every shot." EOS Tunnel is the more advanced of NOX's two EOS designs and is built into the 2027 Luxury moulds. On the Genius 18K Alum, NOX describes it as "more aerodynamically efficient" than before.

What is EOS Flap?
"The side perforations are designed to increase the racket's manoeuvrability and distribute the weight evenly, giving you a fast and lethal racket in your hands." EOS Flap is the version you'll find on the Classic Series, such as the Pro Cup Soft 2027.
Weight Balance
An interchangeable counterweight system. The kit includes easy-to-fit 2 g and 4 g weights, and on the 2027 Luxury rackets you can add up to 8 g in total. Move weight towards the head for more power, or keep it low for control. NOX confirms the system is fully compatible with its frame protectors. You'll find it on every 2027 Luxury model, from the Ventus Hybrid 12K Lite to the Ventus Control 3K.

Oversize Grip
A handle extended by 30 mm. The obvious benefit is room for two-handed backhands, but NOX also points out that the longer handle "shifts the balance towards the head, increasing inertia on smashes". In 2027 it's reserved for the attacking models: the Genius Attack 18K Alum, Genius Attack 12K Alum XTREM and Ventus Attack 12K XTREM.
Smartstrap
The NOX Smart Strap lets you change the wrist cord "quickly and easily", which is good for hygiene and customisation. It's standard on the Pro Cup family, including the ML10 Pro Cup Coorp, and on the Equation models.
Face materials: what do 3K, 12K, 18K, Alum and XTREM mean?
The face is the hitting surface, and its material decides how stiff and precise the racket feels. The "K" number refers to how many thousand carbon filaments make up each strand of the weave. Here's how NOX describes each one, from softest to stiffest.

Fiber Glass 3K (FG)
"A three-layer fibreglass fabric that provides greater thickness, thereby increasing the product's strength and durability." Fibreglass flexes more than carbon, so it's comfortable, forgiving and gives easy ball output. Used on the X-Hero, X-Zero, X-One and Equation rackets.
Fiber Glass Silver (FG Silver)
"Fibreglass with a metallic finish, which gives this material a stiffness level that falls between that of carbon fibre and fibreglass." This is the aluminised fibreglass on the Pro Cup rackets, such as the ML10 Pro Cup Silver.
Carbon 3K
"3K fabric is made by weaving carbon fibre threads into small squares." On the Ventus Control 3K by Miguel Lamperti, NOX says the 3K carbon "delivers the stiffness required for greater precision on every shot", with a dry, direct feel.
Carbon 12K
"Carbon fibre created by weaving carbon strands vertically and horizontally. By achieving greater stiffness, the carbon fibre is thinner and weighs 25% less." In other words, the same stiffness with less weight. Found on the Ventus Control 12K and Ventus Hybrid 12K Lite.
Carbon 12K XTREM
"Maximum stiffness and durability, without compromising the racket's lightness, thanks to the highest-quality interwoven carbon microfilaments in our racket lineup." On the Ventus Attack 12K XTREM, NOX explains that it "combines rectangular and square weaves to increase overall stiffness".
Carbon 12K Alum XTREM
The featured face technology of 2027: carbon that "reduces fibre waviness and interlacing by 50%, resulting in a finer, smoother, and more uniform surface. It offers greater stiffness, a cleaner and more durable finish, and, thanks to its aluminisation, maintains consistent performance across temperature changes." That last point matters in the UK, where you might play a cold outdoor session one day and a warm indoor club the next. Found on the Genius 12K Alum XTREM, its Attack and Lite versions.
Carbon 18K and 18K Alum
Carbon 18K provides "maximum stiffness and structural strength while maintaining the racket's light weight, thanks to the finest interwoven carbon microfilaments in our entire lineup". The aluminised 18K Alum version "provides a sense of solidity and comfort, as well as more consistent performance in response to temperature changes". This is the face of Agustín Tapia's own Genius 18K Alum and the Genius Attack 18K Alum.
What does "Alum" mean? Alum means aluminised: the carbon has an aluminium treatment. NOX's reason for it is thermal stability, so the racket behaves the same whether it's cold or hot.
Cores: MLD, HR3 and HR2 explained
The core is the rubber (EVA) sandwiched between the two faces. It controls how much the ball "sinks" into the racket and how much energy comes back. NOX uses the phrase "memory effect": how quickly the rubber returns to shape and pushes the ball away.
MLD Black EVA (Multilayered Black EVA)
"Multi-layer core that combines different rubber densities to optimise ball output in low-speed defensive shots and power in smashes." MLD solves padel's classic dilemma: soft cores are easy to play defence with but lack punch overhead, while hard cores are powerful but make slow shots hard work. MLD is the core in most 2027 Luxury rackets, including the Ventus Hybrid 12K XTREM by Edu Alonso.
HR3 Black EVA
"High-density black HR3 rubber offering maximum memory effect. This provides greater power in every shot, especially in smashes." Used in the Ventus Control 3K.
HR3 Hard EVA and HR3 Soft EVA
The Hard version is "high-density tinted HR3 rubber, delivering great power and a firm feel on impact". The Soft version is "low-density tinted HR3 rubber, ensuring greater control and excellent ball rebound". That's the only core difference between the Pro Cup Hard and Pro Cup Soft, and between the Equation Hard and Equation Soft.
HR3 White EVA
"Low-density white HR3 rubber, providing a strong sense of control. Ideal for rackets with a soft feel and reduced weight." Used in the Genius 12K Alum XTREM Lite and the X-Hero and X-Zero.
HR3 Color EVA and HR2
HR3 Color EVA is a high-density coloured rubber with "maximum memory effect" for power and rebound. HR2 is a lower-density core with a soft feel, used in the AT10 Genius Ultralight.
Surface finishes: Dual Spin, Exclusive Spin, 3D Texture and Rough Surface
Rough faces grip the ball for a fraction longer, which helps you add slice and topspin. NOX has four finishes, plus smooth faces for purists.

- Dual Spin (new flagship finish): "a 3D texture and a low-weight silica sand finish layered across the entire face". Combining both finishes "maximises spin generation, without compromising the durability of the materials". Standard on all 2027 Luxury rackets, such as the Genius 12K Alum XTREM.
- Exclusive Spin: two finishes split by zone, with a 3D hexagonal texture in the centre and sand finish on the rest. NOX calls it "sectorised" on the Pro Cup Hard and Pro Cup Soft.
- 3D Texture: a raised relief pattern, used on the Equation rackets.
- Rough Surface: "rough surface on the last layer of the racket face", made with pre-moulded plastic or a light silica sand bath. Found on the ML10 Pro Cup Rough and the X-One.
- Smooth: no texture at all. The ML10 Pro Cup Coorp and Pro Cup Silver keep smooth faces as a tribute to Miguel Lamperti's original model.

Reading the NOX heat map: from comfort to stiffness
The 2027 catalogue includes a "heat map" that places every racket on two axes: playing style (control, hybrid or attack) and a scale from comfort (20) to stiffness (100). It's the easiest way to see how the technologies add up.

- Control, comfort end: X-Hero, X-Zero and X-One sit at the soft end, followed by the Equation Soft and Equation Hard, then the Pro Cup Coorp, Silver and Rough in the middle of the scale.
- Control, stiff end: the Ventus Control 12K and Ventus Control 3K, with round shapes and stiff carbon faces for precise control players.
- Hybrid: from the AT10 Ultralight and Junior (softest), through the X-One Silhouette, Pro Cup Soft and Pro Cup Hard, up to the Genius 12K Alum XTREM Lite, Genius 18K Alum, Ventus Hybrid 12K Lite, Genius 12K Alum XTREM, NextGen Pro Hybrid 12K and, stiffest of all, the Ventus Hybrid 12K XTREM.
- Attack: every attacking model sits at the stiff end: the Genius Attack 18K Alum, Genius Attack 12K Alum XTREM, NextGen Pro Attack 12K and the Ventus Attack 12K XTREM.
Notice the pattern: the stiffer the racket, the more likely it is to carry VCS. That's the logic of the 2027 range. The stiff carbon faces give precision and power, and VCS absorbs the vibration that stiffness would otherwise send to your arm.
Testea Padel certification
Every racket in the NOX 2027 collection carries the quality seal of Testea Padel, an independent laboratory at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Each model goes through lab tests built around three pillars:
- Consistency: different units of the same model should behave the same way, with minimal variation from racket to racket.
- Durability: resistance to fatigue from prolonged use, so the racket keeps its properties over time.
- Robustness: the structural strength of the frame and faces under high impact and stress.
Testea Padel also recognised the Ventus Control 3K as one of the best control rackets it has tested.
How to use the technologies to choose your NOX racket
- Worried about your elbow or shoulder? Look for VCS if you want a stiff, advanced racket, or a fibreglass face with a soft core (HR3 Soft or White) if you're still developing. The Ventus Hybrid 12K Lite is designed "to generate power while reducing strain on the arm".
- Want maximum power? Choose a diamond shape with Oversize Grip and a stiff carbon face: Genius Attack 18K Alum, Genius Attack 12K Alum XTREM or Ventus Attack 12K XTREM.
- Want an all-rounder you can tune? A teardrop with Weight Balance, like Agustín Tapia's Genius 18K Alum or Edu Alonso's Ventus Hybrid 12K XTREM.
- Prefer control and a classic feel? The Pro Cup family: ML10 Pro Cup Coorp for a smooth face, Pro Cup Rough for more spin, or Pro Cup Silver if you want it lighter.
- Just starting out? Look for FG, HR3 White EVA and DCS: the NOX X-Hero and X-Zero are built exactly for that.

FAQ: NOX racket technologies
What does VCS mean on a NOX padel racket?
VCS is NOX's new anti-vibration system for 2027. It's a high-performance elastomer bonded to the entire inner surface of the handle, creating a cushioning barrier that reduces the impacts and vibration reaching your arm. NOX says it filters around 60% more vibration than the previous generation.
Which NOX rackets have VCS?
All ten 2027 Luxury Series rackets: Genius 18K Alum, Genius Attack 18K Alum, Genius 12K Alum XTREM, Genius Attack 12K Alum XTREM, Genius 12K Alum XTREM Lite, Ventus Hybrid 12K XTREM, Ventus Attack 12K XTREM, Ventus Control 3K, Ventus Control 12K and Ventus Hybrid 12K Lite.
What is DCS on a NOX racket?
DCS stands for Dynamic Composite Structure. Frame material is extended up to four centimetres into the face so there's no noticeable difference in hardness between frame and face, which helps prevent cracks.
What is EOS on a NOX racket?
EOS refers to NOX's side perforations in the frame. EOS Tunnel (Luxury Series) is integrated into the mould to improve aerodynamics, manoeuvrability and weight distribution. EOS Flap (Classic Series) uses side perforations to increase manoeuvrability and distribute weight evenly.
What is the difference between VCS and AVS?
AVS (Anti Vibration System) uses rubber pieces embedded in the frame to absorb vibration from off-centre hits. VCS lines the whole inside of the handle with a cushioning elastomer. VCS is the newer, premium system found on the 2027 Luxury rackets; AVS appears on models like the Equation and NextGen NFA.
What does MLD mean on a NOX racket?
MLD is Multilayered Black EVA, a core that combines different rubber densities to make slow defensive shots easier while adding power on smashes.
What does 18K Alum mean?
It's an aluminised 18K carbon face. NOX says it gives a solid, comfortable feel and more consistent performance when the temperature changes.
What is Dual Spin?
Dual Spin is NOX's latest rough-surface finish, combining a 3D texture with a light silica sand layer across the whole face to maximise spin without compromising durability.
How does NOX Weight Balance work?
You fit 2 g and 4 g counterweights into the frame, up to 8 g in total on the 2027 Luxury rackets, to shift the racket towards control or power. It's compatible with NOX frame protectors.
Are NOX rackets certified?
Yes. Every racket in the NOX 2027 collection carries the Testea Padel quality seal from the independent laboratory at the Universitat Politècnica de València, which tests consistency, durability and robustness.
Final word
Once you know the code, a NOX racket tells you exactly what it is. The face material tells you how stiff and precise it is, the core tells you where the power comes from, the surface tells you how much spin you'll get, and the logos around the frame and handle tell you how it protects your arm and how it can be tuned. For 2027, the letters to look for are VCS: premium stiffness with far less vibration.
